I thought that there are already term limits. They’re called elections.

So many people in history campaigned for term limits when running for Congress, only to “mysteriously” drop those campaigns once elected.

Should we have a law that when you turn 50 you are let go from your job? You know the job extremely well, but someone with no experience should get the job?

It is up the people in each state who they hire for congress and when they let them go.

It is not up to some demagoguery in a poll to think you have all the answers. s

Everyone likes their own congresscritter. No one likes the other guy’s congressman.

Funny how that works.

If two terms of four years are good enough for the Presidency, why not two six-year terms for a Senator, or four two-year terms for Rep?

Incumbents are almost always reelected. Better to limit to say 12 years. Enough so leaders can be experienced. But less than lifetime service.

Term limits are needed because Congress members are treated differently based on seniority. The longer someone serves in Congress, the more power they get, regardless of merit. But they should be long, maybe 30 years.

"Seniority also affects access to more desirable office space in the House Office Buildings… Normally, the more senior a representative is in a committee, the more likely the representative will be chosen to be the committee chair "

This Motley Fool Poll ended like this:

30 people voted in this poll.

Yes - 80% of voters think we should have term limits (24 votes)

No - 20% of voters think we should not have term limits (6 votes)

The poll which I saw on Twitter went like this:

https://twitter.com/Diceman__/status/1490473129378197506

478 people voted in the poll

Yes - 98.30% of voters think we should have term limits

No - 1.70% of voters think we should have term limits

Were I running for Congress or the Senate, I would most definitely push for term limits. It’s what the vast majority of people want.

Someone I loathe is talking up the term limits idea. This might save his career in Congress for the next 10 years:

Rep. Madison Cawthorn says he wants to limit members of the House and Senate to 12 years of service.

Speaking to Fox News Digital on Tuesday, Cawthorn said he would be introducing a piece of legislation that pushes for members of Congress to be limited to six two-year terms, and senators to two six-year terms.

The 26-year-old, who is currently the youngest member of Congress, told Fox News that he thought 12 years was a “reasonable amount of time” for a lawmaker to make a mark on Capitol Hill.

"Term limits are needed because Congress members are treated differently based on seniority. The longer someone serves in Congress, the more power they get, regardless of merit. "

Hmmm, sounds like a union…
Seniority more important than skill.
