I totally agree with that, especially when text needs to be summarized, such Amazon reviews, or when one wants a consensus view of opinions on an issue. The summaries provided by AI are typically very nuanced and very shrewd. Also, I find it amazing how far machine translation from one language to another has come.
My daughter does a lot of legal work, and she sees AI 's usefulness in contract and regulatory matters. When the texts being analyzed are eye-numbing, brain-fogging, lengthy, and complex, AI can generally cut to the heart of the matter faster and more accurately than a human.
Thus, I have no problem with asking AI to summarize what my choices seem to be. I just don’t want AI --or anyone using AI-- to tell me what my choice should be or must be. I want human judgment, however flawed, to have the final say.
