Not clear on that, either, but there sure was a ‘macro’ impact on that thumb!

Propane is not known for toxicity or corrosion. Its about like gasoline.
So that is probably the result of low temperature. Ie severe frostbite.
Most of us have probably never seen liquid propane. Probably would be from an accident or tampering.
