Hi Gene:

I see. Deciding the target % of cash in your portfolio is an investing decision.
But looking at it the other way, the cash position could be an indicator. If it starts to become big, it may be because you have seen more opportunities to sell and the market has run maybe too much. The excess cash can be used to replenish your cash cushion depending on your needs. This is consistent with the investing decision you might take: to increase the cash during an up/high market. In a down market, you look for bargains and invest your portfolio cash, and the cash would be diminished assuming you have pulled enough for your cushion prior but again you have an option if you need to contribute a bit to your cushion instead of re-investing your portfolio cash.

It’s a good strategy.

Yard care, vehicle maintenance & pool care are among those I now pay to have done.

Yard care is something I won’t pay for someone else to do. I care too much about the lawn. The landscaping companies cut it too short, don’t always have sharp blades, and carry weed seeds to the yard.

Pool care is another service I won’t use. They often use guess strips (test strips) that have terrible accuracy. They maintain the pools to their specs, not mine. Since I took over complete control, I rarely need to add any chemicals and the water has never been clearer. It takes me about 15 minutes per week.

I agree with you PSU but my pool guy lost his job and needed work, I have had him ever since.
