We are trying to make money with the money the we already have. Broadly that is called investing: foregoing current spending to grow capital and enable more future spending. It is like a game and there are different ways to play.
AdvocatusDiaboli is playing a different game from the game that is described on Saul’s board. The two do not mix, and, in fact, Saul’s approach specifically states that the analyses and methods that AdvocatusDiaboli uses are irrelevant to playing the game Saul’s way.
Saul’s method is to identify and analyze individual companies that have in the recent past have been growing very fast. After further analysis, some of these companies are projected to keep growing fast into the future. These companies become investable using Saul’s method. A lot of data, facts, thinking, etc go into a decision to buy, sell, hold, and/or trim these individual companies. The approach basically includes the philosophy that it is difficult to time markets so in the long run it is better to just stay fully invested. However, switching in and out of individual growth companies is a constant as new information comes in and the relative attractiveness of individual growth companies shifts.
AdvocatusDiaboli has warned that recessions happen periodically, and he has sort of advised, or at least warned people, that a recession is looming. In the past, he has sold positions several years in advance of a recession to avoid the drop in the value of the market. The game can be played that way but is is not what is discussed on this board.
These are 2 different games. AdvocatusDiaboli’s game is not discussed or played here. This discussion, therefore, has no place on this board and should be discussed elsewhere. Since market timing is not a thing that is practiced by Saul’s approach, discussion of it here is IRRELEVANT. Furthermore, it is IRRELEVANT because it is NOT ACTIONABLE. Why waste time discussing things that are not actionable.
AdvocatusDiaboli, please just drop discussion of market generalities. The focus of this board is to discuss individual companies. If you have nothing to add to further the analysis of growth companies then please just take your discussion of the market and procrastinations elsewhere.
