I asked the Google AI :u.s. gdp would be negative without AI spend
I received:"According to analysis by Pantheon Macroeconomics, overall corporate capital expenditure rose 2.6% in Q4 2025, driven by software/intellectual property and computer/communications equipment. However, all other non-AI equipment capex segments declined sharply (with other equipment plunging 17%), meaning broader corporate equipment investment would be negative without AI-related infrastructure."
Impact on GDP Growth Rates:
In the first half of 2025, Harvard economist Jason Furman calculated that U.S. GDP growth would have slowed to roughly 0.1% annualized if data centers and information-processing technology were excluded.
AI-related investments added roughly 0.3 to 0.5 percentage points (or about 20% to 40%) to real GDP growth during the first three quarters of 2025.
It would seem AI is supporting the current US economy. If one removes the AI boost; just how much will the economy & stock market react/respond?
We are living in interesting times.
