ALPHABET INC REPORTS 31.1% PASSIVE STAKE IN CROWDSTRIKE HOLDINGS AS OF DEC 31, 2019 - SEC FILING Source text
Looks like their investment arm has held a stake since 2015 when CRWD had a private valuation of 700M.

Here is the filing by Alphabet with the SEC:
https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1535527/000119312520…
They only owned about 8.3m shares as of 12/31/2019.
There were 204m shares outstanding as of 10/31/2019.
So Google owns about 4% of CRWD.
Read further down the SEC filing to find Alphabets information of 18.4m shares and 31% stake.
There were 40.8m shares outstanding.
While I don’t dispute it’s possible that alphabet may have upped its stake, there are a lot more than 40 million shares outstanding. There are roughly 205 million shares outstanding.
Make sure you’re not just looking at shares outstanding of a certain class of shares.
Goog has been an investor since crowds early days.
When Crowdstrike went public, Google owned 20.28M shares. See page 171 of prospectus:

Today, they own 18.4 million shares. That’s still a huge percentage, but it hasn’t gone up since the IPO. The definitions in the third footnote of the release are maddeningly confusing.
Bottom line: Alphabet believes in CRWD. But they also haven’t upped their position in the last six months that we can tell.

18.4 / 204 = 9%
Outstanding shares as of 10/31/2019 was 204.096 so it’s probably closer to 205 on 12/31/2019.
Google’s large stake in them has to be the best endorsement, right? Or so I rationalized when I bought crwd stocks last year
Below is an interesting article that highlights goggles

… Until it’s not. Google has a horrendous history of acquisition/dumping. Heard of “Nest”?
