Sure on a veterans day… Here is the reality. My wife manages a product for a big tech company, with a team of close to 100 guys. She has an expense budget, not a training budget. I talked to her about this, especially the amount of time she spends on recruiting. The answer is half-life of skills are shrinking, either the guy takes charge of his career and stays relevant or not. We are paying on average of $300K (including options) and even if I train them, they can always move to another team, leave the company.

This is the reality of the tech industry. They don’t care about skill development, retaining institutional knowledge, nothing.
