The black hose in the picture below connects to the side sprayer for my kitchen sink any idea how to disconnect it?
The hose isn’t connected to the tee with a threaded coupling?
If that piping complex isn’t a custom installation, then the tech manual for the dish washer ought talk about it.
Also, when all else fails when trying to solve a DIY household problem, try doing a search on YouTube for videos made previously by someone confronted with the same problem. You’d be amazed at the helpfulness of some of them.
If I had to guess, and it is a guess, I’d guess (did I say “guess” enough?) that gray hairpin at the top is what holds it together. The rest, except for the very bottom of the plastic, is one piece, so there’s no profit trying anything with that, at least at the beginning.
I’d turn off the house water (duh) and open a valve to relieve the pressure in the line, then put a screwdriver or similar into that clip and yank it back. You may have to unscrew the horizontal line (can’t tell if that’s dishwasher or sink valve line) and unscrew the whole apparatus. It’s possible, but not likely, that it’s pressure fit and it will just slide out. I’d more guess it’s screwed in up top and you will have to twirl it to release.
The only other part that isn’t part of the larger plastic is that final circle at the bottom encircling the hose on its way to the sprayer. You might take a pipe wrench and see if that unscrews somehow.
One tip: never do plumbing work on a Friday. If you mess it up, you either have to pay weekend rates to have it fixed or wait three days until Monday. Nobody is happy when that happens.
We have a winner. Thanks.
Oh — it was broken before I started… That said, after a few hours of dealing with rusted out parts and not making sufficient progress, I am calling uncle. We will deal with it for the rest of the weekend and call a professional on Monday.
