“The recent climb may be the result of a squeeze on short sellers. The strong gains in March squeezed out a “handful of short sellers with 354K shares of short covering,” wrote S3 Managing Director of Predictive Analytics Ihor Dusaniwsky in a May 20 note. Since then, they’ve been rebuilding their positions, with +1.6M of new shares shorted since April 15, he added.”
“Short interest in the stock stands at ~9% of float, up from ~7% in early April, and making it the fifth most-shorted stock in consumer finance, according to data compiled by S3 Partners.”
