Banking worries in Russia

Strange public announcement from a powerful and influential man speaking about the economic damage being done to Russia by the war:

Sberbank CEO Herman Gref has made a rare public statement calling for the war to end as soon as possible, at a time when the debate over the economic costs of the conflict is intensifying in Russia.

I hope Gref keeps away from windows in tall buildings

Gas lines in Moscow now stretch for hours. Many stations are completely closed. Others open for only a few hours, or limit purchases to 5 gallons - for the week.

Russia has stopped exporting some grades of fuel, and is trying to import refined products from India and elsewhere. Some reports say as much as 28% of Russian fuel stocks have been cut off (by point of reference, the OPEC embargo in the 70’s cut off about 25% of US stocks for a while).

I’d say Mr. Putin has a wee problem to deal with if he wants to keep his job.

I think the Ukrainian drone makers have found their “Strait if Hormuz” pressure point.

He’s more to worry about than keeping his job :slightly_smiling_face:
