Biden Leans On Tesla

U.S. President Joe Biden rarely mentions electric car maker Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) in public. But privately his administration has leaned on the company to help craft a new policy to allow electric vehicles (EVs) to benefit from the nation’s lucrative renewable fuel subsidies, according to emails reviewed by Reuters.

Didn’t Congress have an EV subsidy program that was limited to EVs made in USA by union labor.

I don’t think that one passed. But very unfriendly to Tesla. Is that changing?

Based on the emails, the Biden Administration contacted Tesla on its first day of office. The administration also reached out to other companies tied to the EV industry.

I don’t see this as significant at all. To me it sounds like someone didn’t get the message that Tesla was corporation-non-grata… quite easy to happen on the first day of the administration. Who knows, the policy regarding Tesla might not have bee instituted until the second day.
