Legal expects say that the DEI is just a smokescreen in the larger corruption that surrounds these “montors” – the companies are paying tens of millions of dollars to the monitors so that they don’t do anything to interfere with profits and excessive Executive Compensation.

Among other things. The judge objected to the fact that under the agreement the Justice Department, rather than the court, would approve the monitor to enforce the agreement.

And yes, he also took issue with a provision in the deal that would have race be a consideration in the hiring of the independent monitor.
