China's export orders plunge

No, seriously, tell me how you really feel.

What a time. They can literally print coin.

No need to think too hard about annoying concepts* like “business plan” or “product”.

Just spin up some servers and just create coin.

*May need some marketing content, but AI will do well enough.

I think the dye is cast, the genie is out of the bottle, the bottom is 1.5 to 3 years from now.

If you know of a tariff war that worked out?

I do.

1921 - 1922 tariff war worked out. If that is working out. It was still a great depression. Trump has studied his history. Let’s assume that example is the target.

The 1890 tariff war was only 3.5 years of great depression as well.

Both examples were managed. They were not static.

tariffs
layoffs
deflation
market crisis

“What we most need our business environment to be like is the tallest, steepest, fastest roller coaster ever. And don’t tell us what the ride will be like. Surprise us”

My thought exactly. Trump has decided to play a game of chicken. Why would any business, large or small, think that now is the time to make some large cap ex’s ?

And I get no impression that Trump has thought this thru, that he has the next steps already planned. Heck, he’s surprised that the World has not just bowed down before him and said " we’ll pay any price, do whatever you want, for the privilege of selling our products in America", lol.

Smart people who think Trump is a great businessman, a great strategic thinker, are bewildering to me. One need only look at all of his failures in his business career to get a feel for a plethora of boneheaded moves he made over the years.
Constantly bailed out by Daddy Trump.

So internationally, Countries are whipsawed by Trump’s ever changing tariff policy. Domestically, Companies are whipsawed by Trump’s ever changing tariff policy.

Yeah, this is still early innings of this game.
I hope it works out for America.

“JC” hubris. Like the President of Radio Shack, when challenged on RS prices “we do people a favor selling them our stuff”.

Steve

How it works, one example.

TL;DR
“Investors” (like foreign governments) give you $2 billion. You invest the $2 billion in Treasuries and “earn” the interest. 4% of $2 billion is $80 million. Nice “business.”
