Just watched this review of the 1300 hp Zeekr Chinese EV:
The reviewer compared it to the TSLA Plaid and it blew it out of the water.
One thing I hated about the Plaid is it’s stupid half-steering wheel. That thing looks awkward as heck to drive. No idea who would want one with that ridiculous half steering wheel.
The reviewer also reviewed TSLA’s FSD and gave TSLA credit but he was nervous as heck the whole time FSD was engaged. It does too many risky maneuvers for my comfort. The reviewer also said that the only people who would want FSD are old people, which I agree with.
TSLA is lucky Chinese EVs aren’t allowed in the US because they would eat TSLA’s lunch.
BYD (and other Chinese auto makers) are expanding in Europe and South America. No doubt they have plans to enter the US but not yet. They are coming.
The $10k price for EVs in China is a concern for US producers including Tesla. People say price might rise to $20k for model.meeting US requirements. Still quite a problem for US EVs that seem to start at $50k.
Tesla does manufacture in China giving them some flexibility to compete. And they have modern paid for plants giving financial advantage vs competitors still building capacity. Note recent EV write offs at both Ford and GM. Market will apparently be smaller, slower, and more competitive than anticipated.
As a frequent critic of Tesla, I find his subjective opinion biased and the video likely less valuable based on such bias.
He (and you), likely should have left out such biased commentary if you wanted us to consider the video with more weight. And I state as someone who does view Chinese EVs favorably.
