Those 25% tariffs appear to be working. {{ LOL }}
I wonder if a 25% tariff could have prevented the Gaza Genocide? American taxpayers will be paying for that for quite a while.

TNG has reportedly boasted this administration will be the most pro-Israel in history. As Gomer would say “surprise, surprise, surprise”. The Muslim folks in metro Detroit were delusional.
Meanwhile, back on topic, the threatened tariffs on Canada and Mexico are supposed to start Feb 1st, next Saturday. TNG is surely emboldened, now that Colombia has bent the knee.
Steve
I bet a 100% tariff on Denmark could get us Greenland for free.

The logic in it is that the Detroit Muslims needed to punish the DEMs that screwed them. As one explained, “Trump wasn’t doing “genocides in Gaza” when he was in there.”

On March 21, 2019, TNG recognized Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights. On December 6, 2017, TNG recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moved the US embassy there, from Tel Aviv. Most other countries take a dim view of Israel claiming either occupied area as it’s own. These are moves that no previous US government had taken, since the areas were occupied in 1967.
The first son in law advocated ethnic cleansing in Gaza last April.
As one person offered, in the piece CBS News ran last week, many USian voters, including the Muslims in metro Detroit, seem to have the memory of gnats.
Steve
Yep. Trump said and did all that, but it was Biden funding the Genocide in Gaza. Who you gonna punish if you’re a Michigan Muslim?
Both sides are corrupt, but one is currently killing your people. There are no good choices.
By the way, I saw that CBS News report, the woman quoted was a DEM consultant.
2 months ago CBS did detailed interviews with Michigan voters who’d lost family members to the Gaza genocide. (Muslims appear to have very large extended families)

That can be broadened out.
There is no need for every nation to be Muslim, including the US.
Would 25% tariffs against Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and Somalia be a better less bigoted idea than singling out the smallest war in Gaza?
We are still waiting for the famine two years later. Great line of crap. Don’t let the American press mislead you any longer.
@intercst The press reporting on conservative small Muslim business people as “usually Democratic voters”? Really? Usually? Bull. And vote for a woman? Set your clocks back 500 years.
“The lesser of two evils”? Really where in Yemen, Sudan, Syria, or Somalia? “Arms embargo”? But the four massive Muslim on Muslim wars get a full pass?
Bigotry
It was never genocide. It was never famine. Most of the dead are related to the militants or the actual militants.
In TNG’s 1st term, I believe one of his first actions was to put a ban on Muslims coming in to America:
TNG travel ban - Wikipedia
" It was labeled as a “Muslim ban " by Trump and his aides,[3][4] as well as his critics,[5][6] and became widely known as such since the ban mostly impacted countries with predominantly Muslim populations”
I am not Muslim, but if I was, I would not align myself with
anybody making a blanket ban on people of my religion.
So,basically, I do not care to hear any whining from the metro Detroit Muslims concerning TNG. Of course, I will have the same attitude toward the working-class Americans who also ushered him back for a 2nd term.
The entire thing is a parade of ignorance.
The laws are being broken all over the place.
NPR on attention and SM was interesting last night. There are ramifications later. NPR left that out. I swear if we started all over again with intelligent reporters the next time it would work.
But it wasn’t a blanket ban based on religion. It was focused on seven countries believed to be terrorist threats either from unfriendly governments or chaotic areas with little governance:
Iran
Iraq
Libya
Somalia
Sudan
Syria
Yemen

Why should the facts matter to liberals or the press?

I also remember reading about a Muslim American citizen from metro Detroit who went with her family to visit extended family in Windsor. They were not allowed back in the USA for a couple of weeks. They were not the only ones that had to deal with this.
You are a fan of TCG, I am not, so I seriously doubt we’re going to see eye to eye on this.
This is true, however, the fact remains it was styled as a Muslim ban, not a ban on people from unstable countries. Once official government sanction is allowed, based on religion, what is to keep it from being expanded. Expanded to Muslims from anywhere. Maybe require USian Muslims to wear a crescent symbol on their clothes so others know to “be wary” of them?
Steve
Oh, come on. You really don’t think the average voter knows the difference between a Muslim person from Somalia v. Senegal? One from Yemen v. Bahrain?
Sheesh…
Pete
Probably true, although we do agree that there shouldn’t be blanket bans of people based on religion. My point was that there was never a blanket ban on people of any religion.

I remember when the Ethiopian army invaded Somalia, supposedly, to “restore order”. When reporting the invasion, the media was always careful to point out that the Somalis, (the ones causing the trouble) were Muslims, while the Ethiopians (the good guys trying to restore order), were Christians.
From the Google AI response, wrt the Ethiopian invasion of Somalia in 2006-09
" …the fact remains it was styled as a Muslim ban, not a ban on people from unstable countries."
That is exactly what some of the Muslim US Citizens living in metro Detroit experienced first hand.
Collateral Damage, maybe, but if I was Muslim US Citizen it would be ingrained in my brain that a decree by TCG led to
some scary situations for Muslims. But they knew all this in November of 2024, but voted for TCG anyways.
