Day of reddening

While I’ve seen bigger drops before I’ve never seen so much red, like everything except APPN which is up nicely, 5%. I’m not aggressively invested like many here but I do have a few Saul type stocks and probably too many MF ones. I’m diversified with various sector ETF’s, even some bonds and a CD ladder. (Am I allowed to even post that on this board?) Usually when the techs sink a REIT or something solid will rise, today, just red.

We will see what tomorrow brings.

Not doing a thing. (Actually bought some NTNK and NVDA on the dip)

Looks like you got stuck in the N’s. I’m think about buying in the A’s: Amazon, Alteryx & Arista.

What are other folks liking right now during our politically-induced stock sale?

So far MDB holding up very well. Why? So is Aapl considering.

I bought some A’s (ANET, AYX), N’s (NTNX, NVDA) and a couple of S’s (SHOP, SQ).

Added to existing positions in ANET and SQ, took advantage of the drop to dip my toe further into Saul’s sand box with AYX, NTNX, NVDA, SHOP and TWLO.

I sold out of HUBS and TLND at their high this morning, and split those funds equally between my positions in ANET, AYX, NTNX, NVDA and SHOP. Very happy to add to these excellent companies.

I sold out of MDB and NEWR today as both were actually UP today amidst the sea of red. Bought a little WIX, AYX, and PSTG. Also took cheap $80 May options on NEWR to keep some upside, just in case it gets bought or something.

Just to be clear, I still love NEWR and am interested in MDB. This was simply an opportunistic move – sell what’s up and buy what’s down. Saul does this all the time:

Right now I’m buying in small bites. My cash position actually increased to 10% today. There are a lot of things I want to buy – I’m trying to be patient and swing at the fattest pitches, a little at a time.

Sold my MA (which was a placeholder for me) and bought NTNX.

Peace,

Almost forgot. I also opened a position in TWLO.

Bear must be reading my mind. Yesterday, I also sold more than half of my already small MDB position (also because it was up while the others were way down, while I didn’t see it as any better of a long term opportunity than the others), and I also bought some AYX and PSTG with the money. How’s that for a coincidence? These were small changes and not portfolio altering in any way. Just adjustments around the edges.

Well FWIW and I will be doing a quarterly summary I promise, this last quarter I’ve cleared out some dead wood (Infinera, Synaptics), gotten ruthless with some played out investments (WPX, Imperva, First Internet Bank) and also taken advantage of some share price pops (Barrett Business Services, iKang, MuleSoft, Ubiqiti Networks & partially LGI Homes) to re-allocate into a few new holdings (Hortonworks, OKTA, Appian, Gilead & Celgene) but also top up high conviction and/or beaten down stocks (Nutanix, Micron, Ali Baba, Appian) and again most recently (Pure Storage, Alteryx, Shopify, The Trade Desk).

I’m still itching to enter JD.com, MDB and Nektar as well as top Ali Baba, Tencent and potentially Nutanix and Arista Networks.
