Disney and Political Activism

Everybody,

The article at https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/disney-made-itself-a… discusses what public polling shows relative to the company’s new-found political activism.

I don’t know how to popular opinion on the company’s newfound “woke” politics will affect the company’s bottom line, but we shall see.

The best track for the company is to rise above the fray by not taking the racist and homophobic bait from DeSantis. The Disney company should just make policies that make the buisness itself inclusive and stick to stories without any overt sexual content. When you watch films like Mulan, Raya, Lion King or Encanto the last thing you think about is the sex of the characters.

It is a formula that has worked for almost 100 years and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Yes, and that is precisely what makes the company’s content “family friendly.” Parents take their young children to Disney movies and let their young children watch Disney Channel, with no concern that the content might not be age-appropriate.

Unfortunately, the company’s president has communicated a very clear intent to change that by introducing overtly LBGTQ+ characters into new content.

It is a formula that has worked for almost 100 years and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Yes, I agree completely!

I am aware that this is the spin that is being attached to Disney, but I think that is a misunderstanding of what Bob Chapek has said.

There has been no announced change to content. The non-CIS community is as real and as vibrant as any other cultural, racial or ethnic community and Disney seeks to be inclusive to all communities, perhaps with the exception to Satan worshipers and violent anarchists. This means that it will make movies and other content that reflects the worlds of its audience, as well as the worlds of the content creators, because they all come from the same world.

Who notes on the other hand that the Florida governor has taken steps to hijaak his own special legislative agenda to draw new redistricting lines to introduce legislation to remove the Reedy Creek Improvement District’s operating authority by cleverly removing all such authorities granted before 1968 (there is only the one currently in operation), so it will be interesting to see if the legislature follows through on the threat and Disney’s response, which he expects will end up in court…

Fuskie,

Me: Unfortunately, the company’s president has communicated a very clear intent to change that by introducing overtly LBGTQ+ characters into new content.

You: I am aware that this is the spin that is being attached to Disney, but I think that is a misunderstanding of what Bob Chapek has said.

The earlier article attributed the statement to the President rather than the CEO.

But either way, there’s another article at https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/disney-s-situation… on today’s newsfeed indicating that Chapek may be on the way out.
