Like most Russian propaganda, it started off plausible and then deviated into an absinth dream of major proportions (I particularly enjoyed his imagining of Texas merging into Mexico 
)
The problem is, as demonstrated by recent events in the US, Europe and Russia is that there are people willing to believe ridiculous stories if they are spun by those they trust.
