In contrast, stock buying by corporate insiders has been subdued. They purchased just $6.9 billion worth of shares in the first half. That’s only modestly above the seven-year low of $6.7 billion recorded a year earlier.

Corporate insiders sell stock for any number of reasons. What’s worrying is an absence of insider buying.

Why buy when you can just issue?

Because the issuance is dilutive?

Not too much worry if one is on the receiving end of the new shares, and valuations are high, so good time to issue.

Just ask Alphabet, SpaceX.

Finally those who received SpaceX shares as bonus or options are able to see cash from those assets. You are not surprised some are selling some of those shares.

Are any of these people permitted to sell shares yet? Did their lockup period end already?
