Dollar Devaluing?

I have seen (and posted a relevant link in some thread or other) speculation that TrumpCo’s main objective is lowering the value of the dollar. As I live in Mexico, dollar valuation matters a lot to me.

  • Will the dollar devalue significantly over the next six months?

Every time Uncle Sam prints money, Dear Uncle devalues the dollar but calls it, euphemistically, “inflation.”

Really? No “I got a dollar in my pants” option? This board is becoming unrecognizable.

Not as much as US Treasuries.

I’ve expected the dollar to devalue over the next 2-3 years even without the tariff Turmoil. Climate Change will make farming a far less reliable source of food.

As it becomes clearer how bad the situation really is, the “food miles” problem will be more obvious, and the CO₂ costs will create the same international “friction” that the tariffs do.

Which leads me to observe that in terms of Climate, the tariffs are a GOOD thing. There was no way to persuade the far right to accept this sort of economic hit to save the planet, but persuading them that it is a way of “getting even” with countries that have been exploiting USian workers? That seems to have worked quite well. Scientists have been calling for a low/no growth economy for more than a decade.

No mistake, relative changes to the value of the $ will hurt me badly, but we have to get the growth OUT of the system.

What is being done CANNOT last very long. The monetary definition and problem is far too deep, but a tariff-led collapse can buy us some time.

Yes, the book is still out there. The Laws of Thermodynamics are still RADICALLY Anti-Capitalistic. I am still in Wellington, NZ.
