Ok , Lol this has to be the greatest smoke job in Political history. Economic transition, you mean recession right?
Why can’t they just say the truth?

Why can’t they just say the truth?
And the period of economic transition is transitory.

Sure. And so is falling out of a plane without a parachute.
It’s where you land at the end that’s important.
I think this indicates that even this administration now believes we are headed into a recession and will spend the next few months spinning furiously about “the good days to come” as a result of insulting allies and putting thousands of government employees out of work. Good luck with that.
The OP link says the goal is to bring manufacturing back to the US. Left unsaid is that doing so will lower the quality of life for most Americans.
Labor costs in America is higher than most of the world. That means most of the world can manufacture most things cheaper than Americans. That is a simple fact. Moving manufacturing back to America means higher prices for those products. This will reduce the amount of stuff that Americans can buy.
This is what we Americans, including several on these boards don’t seem to understand. Our standard of living as defined by material possessions is directly dependent on the trade deficit.
American houses are bigger, American cars are bigger, American households own more cars and buy more stuff than those of most any other nation. Americans save less than most anyone else. This is all made possible by the cheap labor in other countries and the strong dollar because we insist that our money should be the global currency.
So the actual “Economic Transition” that needs to take place if we want to run a trade surplus is that Americans need to learn to be happy buying less and saving more. Smaller homes, smaller cars, fewer gadgets. We will need to transition to how Europeans, Japanese, South Koreans, Taiwanese and other citizens of countries that restrict cheap imports live.
We will need to learn how to buy less and save more.
Not allowed because no wannabe-men in pretend-women’s bathrooms.
This administration is promoting DEI !!!
Keep in mind, the cause is ideological, not a fundamental weakness in the economy.
Steve
Of course it’s ideological, we had the strongest economy before Trump came into office.
The point is, the US is one brain fart away from all this drama vanishing.
Steve
You think Vance would be better? or Johnson?
They would die when farted out.
I’m talking about TIG deciding to change his mind, again, for no apparent reason…or a really big check clearing.
Steve
I’m pretty sure that the inhabitants of all those countries aren’t paying double the cost for a health care system that kills them 3 years sooner.
Perhaps we’ll find the early death a relief and a blessing?
