Email to Kindle oddity

I have an epub document that I can email to my Kindle app on an old iPad, but emailing the same epub to my new Kindle Paperwhite fails. I wonder why.

I should add that emailing to a Kindle address adds a document to the library (I checked), so the failure can’t be due to the difference between the hardware Kindle Paperwhite and the Kindle App running on the iPad.

Have you gone to Digital Content and checked that it is marked for the Paperwhite?

It never makes it to the library. The conversion fails (I get an email of that fact after about an hour - I suspect a timeout of some sort.)

Just checking … by library we are referring to amazon.com => Content & Devices => Digital Content yes?

Yup. And to anticipate your next question and clarify the statement of the problem, I’m using two different Apple IDs, and consequently, two different digital libraries. The one associated with my new Paperwhite is the one that I can’t send the epub document to, whereas the one associated with my old Kindle app on an iPad is the one that works.

For me, I have multiple devices for one account, one device being the default … but then I am using Calibre to strip the DRM and convert to epub for my wife’s books.

I have multiple devices on the new account, but only one on the old one for historical reasons. Oh well. I was able to work around the problem by splitting the epub in Calibre and upload both parts to the library. Still makes no sense why the full epub failed though, since it works just fine on the old account.
