Facebook Marketplace

To revive my scam post, I posted a clarinet on Facebook Marketplace yesterday. Today I had three people interest. First person was sending their daughter to pick it up. Second person was sending their son. Third person was sending their wife and brother. When I told each of them to be sure the person they send has cash to pay for it, none of them sent another message.

I don’t know what the scam is but they all followed the same script.

Person shows up, looks at your item and says they want it. They ask for you Zelle address to pay you or you ask for theirs and send a request for payment. They pay you - right there in front of you. They load the item into their car and drive off.

What is so wrong wit this? Where is the scam? It’s the same transaction process when using cash.

You agree to sell your item to a buyer, and they send you the money through an app like Zelle or Venmo. Then, USA Today explains, the credit card gets reported stolen, and the payment gets reversed. You’re out your money, and your item is gone.
