The headquarters of the Republican Party of New Mexico in Albuquerque was damaged early Sunday morning in what the party described as a “deliberate act of arson.”…

He confirmed that the department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives were investigating the fire as an act of arson…

In a statement, the Republican Party of New Mexico said the fire was “not an isolated incident” and was accompanied by the spray-painted letters “ICE=Ku Klux Klan.”

I wonder if these nutters realize all they are doing is build the case for more police state tactics?

A desperate situation of a political shift to the right must be opposed.
This is just one strike against tyrants!

I suspect the peaceful, mass, anti-war demonstrations had more to do with the US pulling out of 'Nam, than all the blown up campus ROTC offices.

Take the adoring crowds away from exhibitionist pols, and what do they have left?

Steve

In Ohio there weren’t many peaceful demonstrations but brick & stones being tossed at Columbus PD officers. Ah the fragrance of tear gas in the air. Brings back memories.

First snoot-full of tear gas I got was in high school. That was one of several race riots, rather than an anti-war demonstration.

If they had not been there, the bricks and stones would not have been thrown at them.

Lansing, MI came up with an interesting idea: an annual football game, between hippies and policemen, billed as “Pigs vs Freaks”, with the proceeds going to charity. That event ran for several years in the 70s.

According to the Michigan History Center’s Rachel Clark, the story began with a 9-1-1 call in about a group of people playing football on the field at East Lansing High School.

“Someone called the cops and said that some “hippies” were trespassing," Clark said. “So East Lansing police arrive and tell them to stop playing and that they have to leave. And the young people refuse. And they actually not only refuse, but they challenge the East Lansing police officers to a game and the officers accept.”

Steve…really enjoyed the 70s

Albuquerque:
https://www.krqe.com/news/latest-news/albuquerque-ranks-among-nations-top-10-most-dangerous-big-cities/
Safewise has named Albuquerque one of the 10 most dangerous big cities in the nation. The city ranked eighth, up from number 12 a year ago.

And many youths are now involved in gun violence.

And unfortunately this trend appears to be migrating to the town where I live outside the city limits.

Tomas Rivas, 20, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested Saturday, according to Las Cruces Police. On Sunday, another 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were arrested, police said in an update.

“About 12:20 p.m. Sunday, March 23, police arrested a 15-year-old boy and charged him with three open counts of murder,” police said in a social media post. “The three previous arrests on this case – two 17-year-old boys and 20-year-old Tomas Rivas – all face the same charges.”

Dear Steve,

That is also like saying if only Harvard did not bring it to the courts. The admin will go and do what it wants anyway. No blame is needed.

In addition to the firebombing arrest, crime has been high as noted by tjscott0. The National Guard is being called up.
