The article should have been titled, “Flight cancelled due to parent accused of child abuse.”

As the parent of 2 children and grandparent to 5 rambunctious grandchildren (ages 13 to almost 2), I strongly resent that law.
You can program the cherubs 24x7, but they’ll figure out a way to break out of the sandbox and create havoc as they see fit.
That’s why AI scares me. It can be programmed and sandboxed, but it’s going to figure out how to do whatever the hell it wants to do.
Just like kids.

I second that emotion.
Other reporting on the incident includes passenger comments about the child being scared. Once they’d get them buckled in, the kid would slide out and hide under their seat.

It’s all BS. You can make all kinds of excuses and maybe the child was actually afraid (I haven’t seen the age of the kid). Mom and Dad and junior should have just gotten off the plane as soon as it was obvious this wasn’t gonna work. And BTW, why do people travel with kids anyway? Are they not aware other people live in this world?

Unfortunately, not that simple. If they checked bags, then the bags also need to be removed (safety issue), which likely means half or more of the bags must be removed to find such.

I’m more of an “It takes a village” type guy.
I remember a flight sitting next to a kid and his mom. She nervously asked me about my level of tolerance around kids. I guess I put out that sort of vibe. I assured her I was chill, and would be happy to help out.
Even though I was exhausted and wanted to sleep, I helped entertain that kid from Tucson to Denver. We played with toys, read books, I shared my snacks…
Being a parent is hard enough without having to deal with the judgement from others who aren’t even willing to help out. On the flip side, sometimes it’s hard to help when parents get defensive or just don’t want the help.
