I suppose. The article says 65% of the R&D costs are for the smaller EV division. If you spun it off, the EV company would operate at a loss, but lots of people seem to like companies that lose money. Would a recession change that?

Spinning off a slow growth division, while the honchos jump on the “high growth” division is the Shiny thing to do. Kellogg’s is doing it. J&J is doing it, partly to fob off the talc liability on the consumer products division. Ford management will deny it, right up until they do it.
