04/18/25 is Good Friday on many religious calendars. Today is the day the Trump administration released news on its fees for Chinese-built vessel policy.
- 6 month reprieve - changes do not take effect until Oct 2025
- $50/net tonnage. or $120/container Chinese owners or operators
- Rates will increase over the next three years
- Rates on Chinese-built ships will start @ $18/ton or $120/container.
- Rates charged upto 5 times a year, and will increase over time.

Trying to figure out who gets impacted the most. Rather than sector, I probably go with size. I think the smaller size vessel owner will take the higher hit if this goes into effect.
