For those with a Rulebreakers subscription, Fletch has a great post comparing BOFI to Ally Financial that looks at why BOFI is more profitable even though Ally is also branchless (more precisely, it looks at why BOFI’s net interest margin is higher).
Thanks for the link Neil. I know I’m preaching to the choir but after reading Fletch’s post along with Saul and all the great posters on this board, the education I’ve received in REITs from REITnut on the REIT board (another public board I believe), Jim Royal on special situations, Tom E and John Sergeant all over the place, and a host of others, I have come to believe the TMF boards are the very best asset and the paid services are just the route to get access to the boards.
Sorry if this sounds like I’m marketing for TMF, not my intent, just heaping praise where it is due.
I’ve been hanging around the Fool for forever(1997) and I think you really nailed it. The analysts on the paid services do a fine job, but the real nugget of gold you’ll discover, IMHO, is the value added by all of the insightful posters. It’s also true of many public boards too. Certainly here and boards such as Berkshire Hathaway and the REIT board among others.
