How Amazon Raises Prices for its Customers and Everyone Else

Amazon typically takes a 50% skim rate from the vendors who sell on its site. So if the item costs $15, the vendor will charge at least $30 on Amazon.com.

Amazon’s AI continuously checks to make sure that vendors don’t sell an item for less elsewhere. If another website operated with a 40% skim rate, a vendor might only charge $28 for the item there. Amazon would quickly tell the vendor to raise the price on the $28 website to $30, or risk losing the “Buy now” button on Amazon.

Class action lawyers are suing Amazon over this, but that’s really the Federal Trade Commission’s job. You can’t expect an economy that operates under “crony capitalism” to maintain competitive free market, price competition.

I’ve personally been trying to do as little business as possible with Amazon for years. As the video explains, Amazon now gets 70% of the online retail market.

Minimize the Skim, it’s often cheaper on Temu for the exact same item. Chinese Communists are doing far less damage to the US Economy than American crony capitalists

I avoid Amazon wherever possible. Plus their website has become unnavigable.
