I think all of the old white males have now been cancelled. I guess - even Santa!

Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, repentant thieves, children, brewers, pawnbrokers, unmarried people, and students in various cities and countries around Europe. His reputation evolved among the pious, as was common for early Christian saints, and his legendary habit of secret gift-giving gave rise to the traditional model of Santa Claus (“Saint Nick”) through Sinterklaas.

An official viewpoint:

While born during Byzantine (Greek) times in what is now Turkey, bits and pieces of St. Nick have been scattered all over hell and half of Georgia with at lest two sites (Bari and Venice) claiming enough nick-nacks to claim holding the body of the saint (and, due to a Pope confirmed miracle, Santa Claus now has two resting places.

As I’ve wandered the cathedrals of Europe, I’ve often wondered how the saints would feel, knowing their remains had been torn to shreds and distributed piecemeal throughout the world to act as commercial click-bait to bring donations into the vast wealth collection machine of the Vatican.

Nowadays, it has been discovered that, if you stacked up all the twigs and splinters which formed the “True Cross” it would form a bridge long enough to cross from Brooklyn to Manhattan and that many of the saints had more than ten fingers and hundreds of teeth. In that context, instead of demanding donations to see the relics of the saints, tourists pay to see the magnificent reliquaries which were crafted hold those items.

Notre Dame de Paris was awesome! (Summer 1966)

Driving my mom sightseeing around Los Angeles the two most common establishments were banks and churches which also tend to have the most lavish headquarters. Two faith based money making machines without a real leg to stand on.
