I guess it's time to explain

First, a big thank you to Saul and the monitors! We have all benefitted. Next, if this board dwindles as many others have, we will lose something special.

Saul and his aides maintained the rules of decorum here, which we still follow. It allowed for a focused and relatively high level forum for sharing information with a joint purpose. See knowledgebase and other important posts. We will lose a great deal, unless the other forums that are getting underway are able to mimic the same important customs and rules. I wish everyone well and hope this transition goes well.

Most of all thanks to Saul for everything! I will still be lurking, probably until or unless the lights go out. Cheers, Bill

Long and informative thread . . . The only thing I have to add is a brief, somewhat out-of-date update on Saul. I had a short email conversation with him a few months back.

At the time I was contemplating a European vacation. I knew that Saul had a home in France (and NYC) and that he had traveled extensively in Europe. I asked if he could make some recommendations for points of interest that might not be in the lists typically found in guide books.

He replied in a friendly manner, but said that he and his wife were in the midst of getting ready for their own travels and he really did not have the time to put together a travel guide. Fair enough.

BTW, he was living in Geneva at the time. I don’t know if that was a new residence or if he was living there for other reasons. His home is in a provincial area. Possibly medical services in Geneva made it a more convenient place to be at the time - I don’t know that, but I do remember that Saul had had more than one medical emergency while he was still active on the board. He decided that he would no longer ride a bike after one accident in which he suffered some injuries. Or maybe he just opted for city life, after all, he is a New Yorker.

In any case, apparently he was still active and enjoying his retirement from his medical career, his writing career and his investing career.

Damn few of us make contributions on a par with Dr. Saul H. Rosenthal.

Just chiming in to say thanks to everyone - I read almost all of it but never feel like I have much to add. Excelsior!
