Which explains why some people have real problems with the real world. They don’t comprehend reality.

Fed is going to DROP the interest rates in coming months.
$ Trillions parked on sidelines is going to rush to equities.

No one wants to be stuck with 2%/year.

A 2% loan is pretty cheap–unless you stipulate interest rates will fall _below_ 2% due to the TAX INCREASE CRASH OF 2025.

LOL you can’t prop the market up as hard as you try. You haven’t seen anything yet, wait till April. 🤡 playing with Tariffs are going to find out.

> Yes, but they are imposing tariffs on one trading partner while US is imposing them on all major trading partners

This is definitely true, but I wonder how much it really matters. Take Canada for example -

Canada trading partners -

- United States. Value: $443 billion. Percentage of Total Exports: 72%
- China. Value: $28 billion. Percentage of Total Exports: 4.6%
- United Kingdom. Value: $18 billion. Percentage of Total Exports: 3%
- Japan. Value: $13 billion. Percentage of Total Exports: 2%

Or Mexico -

- US 79.6%
- Canada 3%
- China 1.5%
- Germany 1.5%

And I wouldn’t be surprised if some other countries with larger trade deficits might also want to get in on the action of tariffs.

In the end, tariffs are generally very bad for the overall world economy. Free trade is the best way to go. However, massive imbalances in trade can sometimes also be bad, especially if they continue over long periods of time, so those also must be addressed somehow.

Trade goes where it is wanted. The reason that those countries trade more with us is because they have something we want. Now take that away and see how the public feels. Especially if those countries make trade agreements with other countries and no longer send their products to the United States. It’s going to be interesting to see if we have two hostile foreign powers on our borders now. I am just glad I speak Canadian and can pass as a Chinook. Especially when I go to Victoria.

I am a trend follower and an intermediate-length market timer. My asset allocation is driven by absolute momentum, relative momentum and long-publicized market breadth and trend signals.

Since mid-February and for the next 4 to 6 weeks likely, I am 6% equities, 44% cash, 40% high yield bond-ish closed end funds and 10% other fixed income (preferreds and int-term Treasuries).

Although I still have a mortgage and one car payment, I’m within a year from early “part-time” retirement and will be funding 1/3 of our living expenses with the yield from that fixed income portion. About 1/4 will be from DW’s SS. The remainder, I hope, will be coming from interesting part-time work and less than 3% withdrawals, while I put off early SS (at intercst’s insistence) and defer my private pension for the same reason (goes up about 8% a year until 2028).

If the dangerously incompetent \<_President_\> doesn’t succeed in destroying our economy and when stocks come back in a sustainable fashion, I’ll move maximum 50% back into a mix of US and foreign stocks & REITs - depending on signals.

_edited per it being flagged for the mildest possible disparaging phrase about 47. Is TMF really moderating content that strongly, on both sides? Wow._

This the right-wring talking point, but is factually incorrect. The CRA required banks to follow good and customary lending practices. The CRA by the way, [is still in effect](https://www.federalreserve.gov/consumerscommunities/cra_history.htm).

… a process that heavily relied on rating agencies selling their ratings\* for those ‚securities‘ for cash coming from the issuer. A reasonable person would assume regulations would nowadays prevent that but guess what?

Of course. Understanding what constitutes “good banking practice” is far beyond the capability of any supporter of the current failing administration. Failing after less than _two months_. PROUD AND LOUD !!!

The Federal budget fiscal year begins in October. So it’s 5 months. And it is indeed horrendous. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s part of the reason we now have our buffoon in chief in the seat of power. LOSING!
