Unemployment is high and that causes unrest. The reason for the high unemployment is employer preference for Arab workers imported from other countries. There are currently over a million foreign workers and they are more efficient, reliable, and work harder than Iraqis. Iraqi workers cannot be compelled to work as efficiently as foreign Arabs and many employers prefer the foreigners.
Well sure. When when you hold the threat of deportation over a worker’s head; he/she will put the shoulder to the wheel.
There is no indication of the pay of the foreign worker. I expect it is less than what Iraqi workers are paid. Yep found it in NYTimes.
