7 year old video.
No jobs for those with IQ under 85. It’s 15% of the population.
Something our society has not addressed at all.
He states that being a teller or cashier is too complicated for a robot to do.
With AI & robot advances, is that still true?
So what are these folks to do.
“And since neither political parties will take a serious look at this situation there will a structural problem in our society because we are complexifying everything so rapidly these folks and those a little higher on the IQ cannot find a job.”
“The working class have been wiped out pretty nicely. It is the low end of the white collar class that’s coming up next.”
A student asks what happens to these people?
“oh they will take opioids. That is what happening in the states.” “They develop drug problem. “They become very depressed and have chronic pain problems.” And Medcaid pays for the opioids.”
Another student asks how likely will this stratum of people will grow.
“That’s a good question! The AI guys are pushing on this. What’s the biggest employment category? Driver.”
So Musk and others want to these folks redundant. Progress!
The educated also become addicted, only to benzodiazepenes.
When people Google “the elites” does his picture appear at the top of the search?
You are not quoting the sharpest tool in the shed.
He comes up with more bull. He is pushy as if that means he makes sense.
Opioids is still a big health problem in USA.
And drivers:
Driving large tractor-trailers or delivery trucks is one of the largest occupations in the United States.
Jordan was a clinical psychologist and a professor and has good verbal skills.
Methinks you just disagree what he is saying.
Except he keeps interrupting, interrupting, interrupting, interrupting until I gave up on him. A shame because his entry to stardom was for a great cause. Now he knows everything about everything. Neil deGrasse Tyson is not far behind on that count.
The Captain
I disagree he has good verbal skills. I find him very hard to listen to, in part because he uses lots of parenthetical phrases to describe things that don’t need much description.
For example, in video he seems to be making the point that terms for people on the lower side of the bell curve become viewed as pejorative over time and are replaced with new terms. That’s absolutely true. That is also very straightforward and simple. Not using the correct term for things is a of peeve of mine, so I am kind of on board with him on that part.
From there, he concludes that this means some people reject the idea of the bell curve itself. Which is not only a stupid conclusion, it isn’t supported by his example or any other evidence that I’m aware of. And he takes a looooong time to explain his stupid conclusion. There’s no payoff.
Whenever I hear him talk I find myself thinking “Good God Man! What is your point?!?
Just spit it out!” But it is always rambling mess of saying things that are completely obvious in excruciating detail followed up by things that are completely ludicrous. He doesn’t say much, but at least he takes a long time to say it.
I must say his comments about lower IQ people abusing prescription drugs is pretty rich, given his history. That’s funny stuff, I don’t care who you are.
Both statements are true.
And truck drivers abusing opioids could be addressed with functioning FSD.
In any event, society will have to address the large number of workers that will be displaced by automated vehicles (both taxis and trucks) and factory workers displaced by robots.
I actually think that there’s a good chance that a lot of manufacturing will return to US shores, but it won’t be creating much employment. Robot labor is already costing less than $5/hr – all-in, when purchased in large quantities. Even Bangladesh can’t compete with that.

I disagree with all the crappy male driven drivel.
