Listening to Radio Paradise and I'm hearing a 1999 Tom Waits song for the first time

This is holy music to this Atheist’s ears! I love his wit and humor!

Tom Waits - Chocolate Jesus

Well, I don’t go to church on Sunday
Don’t get on my knees to pray
Don’t memorize the books of the Bible
I got my own special way

I know Jesus loves me
Maybe just a little bit more
I fall on down on my knees every Sunday
At Zerelda Lee’s candy store

Well, it’s got to be a chocolate Jesus
Makes me feel good inside
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
Keep me satisfied
Well, I don’t want no Abba Zabba
Don’t want no Almond Joy
There ain’t nothing better
Suitable for this boy

Well, it’s the only thing that can pick me up
Better than a cup of gold
See only a chocolate Jesus
Can satisfy my soul

When the weather gets rough and it’s whiskey in the shade
It’s best to wrap your savior up in cellophane
He flows like the big muddy, but that’s okay
Pour him over ice cream for a nice parfait

Well, it’s got to be a chocolate Jesus
Good enough for me
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
It’s good enough for me

Well, it’s got to be a chocolate Jesus
Make me feel so good inside
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
Keep me satisfied

For the unititiated, here’s the link to Radio Paradise - first introduced to me via my $ROKU box many years ago. I listen once or twice a week for hours to find nuggets like the above song.

My fave channel is the main mix. These DJs have great big ears, and they will mix jazz, blues, alt-rock, deep house, trip-hop, etc. As a DJ of 40 years, Radio Paradise shows me that not everyone has sold out and become wedding DJs playing the very best generic classic slop.

p.s. If you open it, you’ll want to hit RP MAIN MIX and then right below that box, click on that button which says slideshow (switching from the default “INFO” button which gives you background on every song played + its rating by listeners.)

The slideshow (which is the default on the ROKU box) is comprised of photos which have been tagged with different descriptions. The photos are submitted by listeners from all over the planet. And the photos are always exponentially growing. That plus this internet version allows you to carry on with other listeners via a chat box.
