I had mentioned this in the earlier Battery Swap posting, but it needs to split away…
Update: I just ordered a replacement Trackpad…
Update II - Oops, ordered the wrong trackpad, returning & ordered the correct one…
So the correct one arrived today, installed it, those are the tiniest screws I’d ever seen! Anyway, once in, buttoned up, powered it up, initially seemed OK, but then the reaction to one or two finger touches just weren’t happening reliably at all.. IF the pointers on a button, sometimes it would at least click, but, overall, pretty useless, so it’s going back,..Ordered a different brand, hoping for the best, also spotted a screw set, ordered! If ever I dropped one, it’s gone, so, so tiny… Here’s an indication of how many times I’ve had this MacBook open I try to write inside the cover of any laptops I open, reminders…
What a difference, this kit fit right, works right, from the trackpad to the clicker, as the first one should have! the little tool kit included was just right, didn’t need the extra screws included and I’d ordered another set besides, so a bit of overkill.. 15-20 minutes, done, rebooted, fixed!
I’ve a bunch of small magnets saved from various stuff, in my desk, so a couple of them on my desktop keeps the teeny screws in their own pace until I need 'em again.. In earlier takedowns I used a piece of cardboard sketch the laptop or whatever, poke holes where the screws need to go mack, make notes, anything to help get all the bits back where they belong… IJ have a couple of the nagnetic dishes I used when working on the card, they stick on the fender, yes, pretty handy…
Use all the tricks we need to make it happen! Take pics, too!
