Maybe not OT: The Glass Hotel

Back in early 2020, I read Emily St. John Mandel’s Station 11. It is a book about a pandemic that destroy’s civilization. That and rereading Briar’s Book by Tamora Pierce, another plague book, at about the same time were probably not my best reading decisions.

I finished St. John Mandel’s The Glass Hotel today. It is a work of fiction looking at how a Ponzi investment scheme touched the lives of the investors and those near to and on the inside of the fraud. The details of the fraud reminded me of Diana Henriques examination of the Bernie Madoff fraud, A First-Class Catastrophe. There is even a character in The Glass Hotel who reminds me of Henriques. I highly recommend all four of the books in this post.

(If you are interested in the Tamora Pierce book, it is a YA fantasy title and the last book in four book series.)
