Medicare Advantage & Obamacare were Created Because "Markets Work"

Corporate lobbyists have sold our representative that “Markets Work” and that Americans want “choice and competition” [or is the myriad of choices is to confuse seniors] in regard to health care. Which rakes in huge profits to the insurance industry not surprisingly.

But do we? Methinks we want evidence based, effective and cost effective treatment.
And clearly looking at the various systems in the world. Clearly government run health care systems are cheaper and provide good care. But that is only is provided for the US elderly? Of course private insurers have been chipping away from the number of people on traditional Medicare. In fact it is LESS than 50% of seniors now. Is this a reflection of poor math skills within the USA?

I want choice in who my doctor is. I don’t want to be seeing a different person every time I show up. It’s good to have a history with a doctor so they get to know what is normal for you.

But I hate insurance, and think that medical insurance should be illegal. No more charging $100K for a surgery because almost no one could afford it (and the surgeon would be out of a job). No more denied claims by some paper-pusher that has no medical training (how dare they question a qualified physician treating me!). There should be ONE network, and it should be the government. We already have that system in place (i.e. Medicare). I know it won’t be as easy as snapping your fingers, but -IMO- we should work towards that.
