Well there will always be remote operators. There have to be, and not just for when the car gets confused but for situations like breakdowns or emergencies or other ‘out of routine” events.
How much staffing will be required will be a big part of it and will impact the “behind the curtains” cost, obviously.
Not much today.
Based on license plate counts, two unsupervised Robotaxis were in service on launch day. Two days later, that number grew to three. The limited fleet produced repeated high demand wait times, several ride cancellations, one of which we assume was caused by a lightning storm, and others for reasons unbeknownst to us.
About the same staffing as a busy food truck.
