More slippage in Races

So not even a majority.

https://www.cnn.com/election/2024/results/house?election-data-id=2024-HG&election-painting-mode=projection-with-lead&filter-key-races=false&filter-flipped=false&filter-remaining=false

3 Republicans going to work for the new President so 217 to 215 because the Democrats picked up 2 seats in the house. (It says 214 but they expect it to be 215)

https://www.cnn.com/election/2024/results/senate?election-data-id=2024-SG&election-painting-mode=projection-with-lead&filter-key-races=false&filter-flipped=false&filter-remaining=false

So it looks like the Republicans picked up 4 seats. That is the best they did.

So looking at this it looks like we have a divided Government with no clear mandate. I expect a lot of Hot air and hand wringing on both sides.

Are those “loyal” people from states that can be counted on to elect/appoint, equally “loyal” replacements?

Stefanik? 1234567890

New York, right? According to this piece, replacement of Senators varies. Some states the Gov appoints, others there is a special election. In the case of House members, like Stefanik, the Constitution requires a special election. so the Gov of NY does not make the choice.

It’s an election Steve so who knows who will be running. But now that you bring up the special election it puts all the races up.

Yes. They come from only the most reddy red red of the gerrymandered red zones. You could put up a serial abuser like Matt Gaetz and still command an overwhelming margin and, in fact, they did. So presuming the next candidate can fog a mirror, they will add to the Republican majority as soon as the election(s) are held.

It appears Stefanik’s district has flipped party from time to time, but she had a lock on that district since 2015, winning by large margins. Maybe she has a relative she can endorse for the seat. Nepotism seems to be the thing now. The father-in-law of Tiffany has become the second father-in-law of a TFG daughter to be nominated for a cush gig. There has been chatter that one daughter will be put forward for a seat from Florida, to replace an administration nominee.

Getting rid of Gaetz was critical. He would lead his caucus to stop all bills.

It is not that simple. If the economy is wretched enough, they have no backbones. The public won’t forgive.
