Murdoch's Irrevocable Trust

My paraphrasing summary of the Dealbook column this morning. I want to take the political stuff and minimize it.

The only way Murdoch can amend the trust terms by law is if the changes benefit all parties. There are five parties, Murdoch and his four oldest children.

Three of the children do not share his politics at all. The eldest son does. Murdoch wants to leave the eldest son with all the power but the assets with all four children. He has no power over revoking the trust.

The two daughters were approached by Murdoch and were furious with him.

Murdoch has gone to the courts.

Even if he wins while a live or of a viable mind, the case would lose on appeal because it does not benefit all parties.

Murdoch is arguing he made them all multibillionaires the politics of Fox need to remain the same.

James the second son and the two daughters are not interested in the father’s crap. I think that goes further into the family dynamics.
