After 2014, where I was down 9% or so, I’m glad to have started 2015 well. I read in a column on Zacks that the S&P 500 was down 3% in January, and I was up 3.1%, so that’s a nice 6% spread in a month (I don’t normally follow the S&P or any other benchmark. It was an accidental spotting). After yesterday I’m up 3.9%. As I noted elsewhere, seven of my stocks, including the top three and 61% of my portfolio value, have reported so far, and reported earnings up an average of 58%, running from up 34% to up 88%. I’m often worrying about one or more of my stocks, and considering trimming it, but I’m in the rare position of being comfortable with them all at present (that may change with circumstances, and probably will). Here they are:
Hi Saul
I have made a spreadsheet for your 2015 investments:
[https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/122OtxRVIJelV1DXqbqbN...](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/122OtxRVIJelV1DXqbqbNyv5M20CgasJILv6ZArrlDek/edit#gid=0)
I took equal allocation on stocks within each category and tracked them
from 1/2/15. So far I have 7% gain but you report 3%. So there is a
small discrepancy that I would like to correct. If you use gmail then
you can access the link above and let me know the problems. I can give
you edit permissions. If not, I have cut and pasted what I have below.
Thanks
Anurag

Anurag, that’s fascinating and very flattering. Thanks. I will look at it to try to figure out the discrepancy.
Right off I see one: The symbol for POL is just POL. You used another symbol, POLY, which is for another company and which showed a $4439 profit, while POL actually has a slight decline.
Also I started figuring with the close on Dec 31st, while you started with the close on Mon Jan 5th, so you started about 1.7% lower. You might check these two corrections and see if it brings us a lot closer.
I sold my small positions in AMBA and JCOM to buy EPAM (and add a very little SYNA). I no longer have either.
Also my start date is 1/2/15. Can you have another look? Maybe different weighting on stocks?
I will look at length later today or tomorrow. If you are trying to figure results for 2015, you have to start with the close on Dec 31st. You used Monday’s closes. Monday was Jan 5th. New Years day was a thursday and the market was open on Friday Jan 2nd, and that may have thrown you off. It’s easy to think of starting on a Monday.
I have put the tracker to start from today. No need to dig up the past. I will apply any future actions on this one - sale or buys. It will help members enormously if this is done in a timely manner so that some of those who want to emulate you can follow easily.
