Is there any way to have the name of the thread starter, and subsequent posters show up, instead of avatars?

If you are talking about the display of the Topic List, the avatars use a lot less screen real estate.
You can hover your cursor over the avatar and the user name is “ballooned” for you.
It also mentions who started the topic and the most recent poster.

Yes that helps, but my feedback would be I would rather give up some real estate then need to hover on every thread to see who started it, and who replied. So many of the avatars are very similar, especially on a small screen. And as you read certain boards, there are some posters you regularly skip. How about an option to see the names if you want?
