NATO as seen from Denmark

Most news tend to have either American or Russian biases, the reason I found the ‘middle-view’ interesting.

Sten Rynning - Does Russia Believe Article 5 Still has the Power to Deter its Aggression in Europe?

Sten Rynning is Director of the Danish Institute for Advanced Study. Formerly he was Vice Dean for the Research at the faculty of business and social sciences, at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). He was also a member of the Alphen Group and a non-resident associate fellow at the NATO Defence College. Among the topics he works on are NATO, European security, and war studies.

Thanks Captain. Terrific and (as you warned) involving.

Here is another (mislabeled to attract eyeballs) super presentation by the War College’s main scholar/professor on the topic of modern war strategic thinking and execution:

Extremely informative, brilliant insights, and also weirdly amusing as from time to time she eviscerates fumbling bumbling misconceptions of her young naive interlocutor.

Sarah Paine said, “Patton had a whole civilian architecture behind him.” Absolutely true but Patton made better use of it than other generals to the point that Eisenhower used him as a decoy to make Germans think the attack would come from further up north.

This “civilian architecture” included Operations Research…

Originating in military efforts before World War II, its techniques have grown to concern problems in a variety of industries.[3]

Back to watching Sarah Paine…

Yes! Patton knew how and loved to conduct the entire orchestra of war.

Here is my very favorite and key to some current geo-political events Sarah Paine lecture (no entertaining nitwit interlocutor, just her explaining the crux mechanics of todays world):

Very interesting, elephants vs. whales! I often wondered how small nations like England and Portugal could become such huge powerhouses. Whales are bigger than elephants!

Sarah Paine is a historian which means looking backwards. How far backwards?

End of the Bronze Age & the Sea People

But looking even further back, the flying dinosaurs survived where the earthbound ones didn’t. The Armenia - Azerbaijan and the Ukraine wars as well as the Hamas - Israel conflict and the Red Sea disruption by the Houthis all point to the air as a third leg of the puzzle. Unmanned drones and missiles, intelligent or remote controlled.

Innovation never ceases.
