Need Help With Yahoo Pop-Up

I’m running classic Outlook (not the new Outlook). About a year ago I wanted to add Yahoo mail so I could use it along with Outlook. As I recall it took FOREVER to get it setup but I finally did.

Fast forward to today and all of a sudden I’m getting these Yahoo updates that keeps popping up every minute or so. You have to clear them and try to go on with what you’ve been doing. Good luck with that …. here they come again.

Anyway I have this bright idea. Wait a minute I can do a restore and get me back in business. No problem. I have this sticky note on my desk that says “Note: Before running a restore disabel MS Defender and MalwareBytes”. Ok, cool, so I disable them and run the restore which stops after about an hour and 15 minutes saying it can’t do the restore because there’s some virus protection going on. OK, good old reverse Irish luck has struck again. Go through all the Google searchs trying to figure out how to turn off MS Win 11 Defender and “THINK” I have it turned off. Then I turn off MalwareBytes again. Run the restore again and it runs for another hour or so and stops and tells me it can’t restore becuase there’s some virus protections going on.

Then of course here’s comes the Yahoo pop-up again. Repeatedly.

Without totally removing the Yahoo Mail/Outlook configuration that took a LOOONG time to setup does anyone have a suggestion or two for getting rid of these pop-ups? The pop-up basically wants me to sign in to Yahoo. I think it has something to do with syncing the two accounts (i.e.: Earthlink and Yahoo).

Much grass (mucho gracias)

Here you go 9876543210!!!

So it’s an Outlook error not Yahoo per se. You’ve probably googled already but there are some ideas here - How to Fix Outlook Cannot Synchronize Subscribed Folders Error?

I think I’d first try deleting and readding your Yahoo mail account as described there:

Method 4: Remove and Re-add the Email Account

If the strategies above don’t help, you may need to consider removing and then re-adding your email account. This method has been known to resolve the error for many users. But remember, it’s crucial to back up your data before you remove your email account to avoid potential data loss.

Step 1: Remove the Email Account

  1. Open MS Outlook.

  2. Go to the File menu.

  3. Click on Account settings and select Account settings.

  4. Select the email account you want to remove and click the remove icon.

  5. From the Account Settings popup, click on the Yes button to confirm.

Step 2: Add Email Account

  1. Open MS Outlook.

  2. Go to the File menu and click on the Add Account button.

  3. Enter your name, email, password, and retype the password.

  4. Click on Next to proceed.

  5. Once the account is configured properly, click on the Finish button.

Hi g0177325. I think I finally have it fixed (repaired). Probably should have done this early on but live and learn. Here was my solution:

  • Go into Outlook
  • Click on Account Settings
  • Highlight the Yahoo account
  • Click on “Repair”

Things seem to be back to normal. I’ve been jacking with this for a while now and I’m glad I think I’ve finally got it resolved.

Thanks for your input I really do appreciate it.

Now I have to figure out how to get rid of the dreaded “SESSION” that periodically wants to take control of my mouse. This one is a real booger.

Nice. A “repair” option that seems to actually work! That might be a first. :slightly_smiling_face:
