I am pleased with Nepal’s response to the crisis. They are well equipped and do not need outside assistance. They have their own helicopters. So often we hear of third world countries where people are starving.
Google says the Nepal economy is 70% agriculture. Rice, corn, wheat, and potatoes are the main crops. But also apples, cattle, citrus, mangoes. Their tourism business and services are growing. They also have hydropower.
They have adopted democracy several times, most recently in 2015. They are concerned about corruption in government (who isn’t?).
Sounds like a small middle class country that is serving its citizens well. I wish we had more of those. I wonder how many escape our attention in the news.
