New York 1746 (AI Reconstruction)

Interesting Video. They used paintings of life in New York from 1746 on to inform the creation of an AI video depicting life in New York through the years.

The animations are interesting but not really any better than taking your time to look at the painting. You can zoom your focus in and out on different aspects of the painting just like the AI does. I recall being in a museum with a group of small kids and the guide did just that, suggested to the kids they play I spy, had them talk about how the houses differed from the ones they lived in, etc.

The narration describing the scene would be your internal monologue, or in a booklet, or perhaps playing on your audio program. It does seem there are a few extrapolated images but nothing you couldn’t imagine if you just looked at the painting.

Perhaps it’s good enough to replace set designers for historical fiction movies, but, bah humbug, I would rather look at the paintings and see firsthand what the painter recorded.
