Perhaps it just a stereotype, but I don’t see that keeping the gold in Nigeria is going to be safer.

lessee…outside of coups in 1966, 1975, 1976, 1983, 1985, and the civil war 1967-70, what makes you think Nigeria might be unstable?

It depends upon “from whom” is the gold being protected.
It is much easier to steal something nearby rather than “over there”.

They are going to put it in a mine and only let children bring it out when the country needs it.
