No end to price inflation

German wholesale prices rose sharply in March on year, posting the biggest increase since the wholesale price indices were first calculated in 1962, the German statistics office Destatis said.

Wholesale prices increased 22.6% in March compared with the same month last year. This follows a 16.6% increase in February on year, Destatis said.

The sharp rise was driven by increased prices for raw materials and intermediate products, the statistics office said. …

Do the “job creators” have any incentive to solve the supply chain bottlenecks? Seems to me that they’re doing just fine with the scarcity and parts shortages.

Profits seem to be rising in this environment.

Intercst there are two motives, the competition will take market share and the profit equation importantly includes volume.

Costs are rising ~10% for corporations while profits are rising >12%.

Corporations feel free to gouge customers because they can blame it on supply problems and the war in Ukraine. They think customers are willing to pay more during these uncertain times.
